Who Cares? We Do!

The work of the Bowness & Windermere Community Care Trust (BWCCT) is often associated with the various activities that take place in and around The Phoenix Centre.

Much of The Phoenix Centre itself is home to many regular youth activities, including the Windermere Youth Project, the Windermere Scouts and the Heathwaite Football Club. The Activities Hall can be booked for private events, from groups seeking a meeting venue to those requiring an inside sports facility. The hall is serviced by a small kitchen equipped for the production of light refreshments.

What is often overlooked is the work undertaken away from the Phoenix Centre to support the elderly in our community.

BWCCT is contracted by Cumbria County Council to provide Day Care facilities every Monday and Friday at The Marchesi Centre, Windermere. The Care fulfils an important role in offering a friendly environment where those attending receive a warm welcome, social participation and a hot lunch. In addition the Trust runs a weekly luncheon club at The Carver Church, Windermere offering a 'home cooked' meal and the Windermere Methodist Church is home to a weekly 'Drop In' providing coffee/tea and biscuits and an opportunity to have a chat in a warm and friendly environment.
