Windermere On Water 2007

WOW is back! The successful Windermere on Water festival returns from the 8—10 June. The festival gives people of all ages a chance to enjoy Windermere (the Lake!) in both a traditional manner and in many new and exciting ways.

The WOW factor this year comes in the form of top quality street arts from across Europe. There will be performances and acts at the Pier in Bowness, Windermere Train Station and in Ambleside. The experience will delight, move, inspire and amaze, and peaks in a breathtaking display on Saturday night at The Glebe.

As well as professional street acts there will be a range of opportunities that offer visitors and residents the chance to try something new or combine a familiar activity with something a little different - from learning to kayak, cruising in style, exploring the history, and taking part in the 'Henley of the North' sailing regatta - all have one thing in common, a celebration of the lake and its surroundings.

WOW is now in its second year and after a successful festival in 2006 it is continuing to capture the imagination and revitalize Windermere for visitors and residents alike. The original aim continues and this year WOW hopes to attract even more visitors to this area with an event of international quality and significance, helping them to broaden their appreciation of the landscape and environment of the Lake District. It is hoped that it will inspire new interest in Windermere nationally and internationally, attract more visitors from outside the county and help build the capacity in the community to organise and manage high quality events.

WOW is funded by Cumbria Vision, Cumbria Tourism, Lake District National Park Authority and Arts Council England. In 2007 we are very pleased to announce that the main sponsor will be Lakeland Limited.
