Blues News — Report From Your Local Police
Once again the busy summer period is upon us when our beautiful area will be visited by millions of tourists from near and far.
PCSO Blacow and I and the other members of the local policing team always look forward to this time of year.
We have been successful in combating and reducing youth disorder in both Bowness and Windermere during the past three months.
The RESPECT campaign is underway and it appears to be having an effect on the way in which people of all ages are behaving in the villages.
The installation of C.C.T.V. at the library has assisted us in apprehending and convicting a local youth for causing criminal damage to property in the area; the assistance of all our partners have made the area a safer place for people of all ages.
To admire and enjoy, however we have had complaints from both residents and tourists on the felling of the chestnut tree in the corner of the park adjacent to the public toilets.
We have also taken enforcement action on young motorists who have been riding on local roads at high speed on mopeds and in cars causing a danger to the public.
The recent Windermere on Water event was very well attended with large numbers of members of the public descending on the Glebe we are glad to say the event was incident free and enjoyed by all.
The recent hot weather has been beautiful and as a result we can all become complacent when leaving windows and doors open during the daytime and also at night.
We ask everyone including shopkeepers to check that all windows and doors are secured whenever possible.
