Windermere Cancer Research Group

The Committee of the Windermere branch of Cancer Research UK held an afternoon tea to celebrate 50 years of fundraising at the Marchesi Centre. Present were two of the original committee members, a representative from Cancer Research UK who presented a celebration cake, which was cut by Arthur Smitten, who in his 90's still helps every year. Our guest of honour was Caroline Dive from the Patterson Institute/Christie site, who gave an inspirational talk on the progress made and the work still being done in the ongoing battle against cancer. During the last 50 years, the Windermere committee have raised in excess of £485,000 for Cancer Research UK.
