Windermere Community Safety Partnership

We've have been very active in the last few months, with a number of projects making excellent progress.

STREETSAFE

There have been 4 Streetsafe multi agency operations in Windermere during the last year. Young people have been involved in these visits, the first time this has happened in South Lakeland. Droomer Drive and Broad Street areas were targeted, with 2 initial visits and then 2 follow up visits. The follow up visits not only let residents know what has been happening in the area, but also help us to assess the impact of any work. More of these events are planned across the area and they will help to shape police, fire and community services.

YOUTH SHELTER

After consultation with young people through the Lakes School, Young Cumbria and Windermere Youth Project, funding provided by the South Lakeland Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership has led to the installation of a youth shelter on Queens Park.

CCTV AT WINDERMERE LIBRARY

Cameras have now been installed at Windermere library, after strong lobbying from the WCSP. They have already been used to provide evidence for a successful prosecution for criminal damage.
