Windermere Youth Project and Detached Youth Work
Over the last few months the Windermere Youth Project and Young Cumbria have had a busy time in and around the Windermere and Bowness areas.
Paul Longden from Young Cumbria and his team of detached youth workers have been in and around the area on Monday evenings working with young men and women on the Queen Park and in the local streets.
Paul has begun discussions with young people regarding their youth shelter and how they would like it to look when complete and has organised informal football sessions with the aim of developing interest in further activities.
Paul and his team will be working with young people on alcohol-related issues and the completion of the youth shelter during the next few months. So …If you see Sheryll and Paul on the Glebe on a Friday night come over and say hello! ... See what we are up to and join in if it appeals to you. Interested call Paul on; 07709797536
Maggie King from Connexions and her colleagues Brenda Reading and Carol Philpotts have been around and about on detached work over the summer. They have been chatting with those aged between 15 and 17 who would like to meet somewhere once a week in the winter. As Brenda and Carol are also personal advisers in the Lakes School, they will be able to follow this idea up during next term. Interested call Connexions on 01539 730045 and ask to speak to Maggie.
The Windermere Youth Project has recently taken part in summer camps activities, BBQ evenings sports, fishing, a cinema trip and loads of other good stuff.
