The Hub

About the Hub

The Hub is a quarterly magazine published by South Lakes Development Trust (SLDT), a Windermere-based social enterprise, and distributed throughout Windermere, Bowness and Troutbeck Bridge.

A number of other local groups and public bodies help to fund The Hub, and we sell a limited amount of advertising to help cover printing and distribution costs. In addition to providing some of the funding, it’s SLDT staff who collect or write articles, organise the printing and distribution and put the whole thing together.

Much of the content of the Hub is submitted by local people and community groups; if you or your group would like to submit an article in the Hub—whether it’s to publicise an upcoming event or just tell people what you’re up to—please don’t hesitate to contact us (details right).

If you would like to help support the Hub by advertising your business, we are offering a 5% discount for booking advertising before the end of March. Our rates (below) are very reasonable, and we can help with putting the advert together.

We’re here to provide you with a magazine that you want to read, not to make profits, so if you have an idea for something you would like to see in the Hub—upcoming local sports fixtures, interviews with local people, recipes, or anything else—let us know! The puzzle patch feature in this edition was suggested by readers, and if we receive positive feedback we will consider making it a permanent fixture!
