South Lakes Development Trust Wins Funding Bid
South Lakes Development Trust takes a major step towards financial independence when funding provided by the NWDA towards the Lakes Market Towns Initiative ceases at the end of March.
From April SLDT will be delivering a range of important local regeneration and economic enhancement projects beyond those originally funded by the NWDA and will be generating a substantial element of the funding required to administer the projects through the various trading activities that the Trust has successfully developed over the last few years.
Additional funding was however required to ensure that the work of the Trust could be maintained and further developed and assistance has been sought from a range of organisations to assist towards the additional funding required to ensure onward sustainability beyond the end of the Market Towns funding.
Thanks to the generosity of a number of key local companies and local authorities the required level of £100,000 funding has now been secured. In addition to the substantial contribution from South Lakeland District Council (as features in South Lakeland News) SLDT wish to recognise the important financial assistance being provided by: Lakeland Limited, E.H. Booth & Co. Ltd, Windermere Town Council, Lakes Parish Council, Cumbria County Council, Northwest Regional Development Agency and the Lankelly Foundation.
Sam Rayner, Managing Director of Lakeland Limited commented “SLDT can play a pivotal role in providing the cohesion to planning and preparing to ensure that our community is better equipped for the future”.
The funding will ensure that the activities of the Trust can be further developed to ensure the onward delivery of the exciting range of projects being delivered by effective social enterprise in our region.
