- No to world heritage site. No 1 priority is the provision of adequate , clean toilets. Visitors need adequate facilities after traveling long distances. Litter still problem . More co-operation from SLDC over routine maintenance of existing facilities. Park and Ride facilities at economic rates at 'Braithwaite Fold' to promote tourism. Respond
- Children habitually play football in Ellerthwaite Gardens, disrupting the park seats and litter bin, including setting one on fire this week. There are three football pitches in the Windermere Parish. Respond
- Parking should be free to local residents. Highways - better signing on the new roundabout at the top of Crescent Road. Bring back road sweepers and drain cleaners. Empty public bins more often. Trains - better connection between main line trains at Oxenholme and local line to Windermere. Respond
- Provide more litter bins in shopping areas and car parks. (and keep them emptied). Seating on the Glebe all the way round. Respond
- Toilets - not always inspected often enough and toilet on Glebe car park should be re-opened. Pavements - the new pavements are going to be dangerous in winter. Local materials should have been used. Parks - I go into Queens Park every day and usually end up picking up loads of rubbish left from the evening before. More police patrolling at night needed. Respond
- Waste bins are needed close to the benches. Respond
- Fly tipping and black bags of rubbish need to be eliminated, particularly in back streets. Respond
- Mess left in Queens Park by youngsters and also people putting bread down for the birds - i.e attracts vermin. Respond
- Train people to pick up litter near their homes and places of employment and others not to throw stuff away 'take your litter home' Respond
- The litter left behind after the wheelie bins have been emptied should be cleaned by the road sweepers otherwise bits of food etc (and I have seen this) will attract rats. Respond
- Recycling - We do not need any more and certainly don't need slop buckets or kitchen caddy's. Litter Waste - we need more rubbish bins and possibly a litter warden. Respond
- Recycling - some sort of pressure crusher needed so that plastic can be collected. Use recycling to create new energy, local finances. Litter - educate children not to drop litter in the first place. Respect the environment. Waste - Public bins should be emptied more often, perhaps more of them. Respond
- Troutbeck Bridge - need a litter bin at Cooks Corner as there is not bin between Troutbeck Bridge and St. Mary's Church. Respond
- Can the litter bins be chained/secured in some way as the one at the entrance to the reek from Upper Oak Street is thrown into the beck on a regular basis. Presently it has not a cover. Respond
- Litter bins - (grants available for covers) Respond
- Prosecute little droppers. Booths re-cycling area should be cleaned by SLDC. Police/Support Officers visit groups in Parks. Make an example of them. Household plastic/cardboard collection. Respond
- Litter on foot paths. Respond
- 600,000 cu meters of untreated sewage is discharged into Bowness Bay each year. Respond
- Approve of SLDC's efforts at recycling but wheelie bins large and awkward in terraced and small properties. Include cardboard in household collections. Parish 'lengthsman' to keep parks and hedges etc clear of rubbish. Strict enforcement of fly tipping penalties. Strict enforcement of dog fouling regulations. Respond
- Education of children - all ages in the benefits of recycling, starting with reduction of packaging - i.e reduce, re-use, recycle. Some doorstep collection could be bags, rather than boxes and wheelie bins,. Need to be able to recycle food waste doorstep. Need to enforce penalties for dripping litter - a few fines would make a big difference. Respond
- Recycling - Have provision for doorstep collection of plastics and cardboard. Waste - more information needed for disposal of litter waste. Electrical equipment - Ambleside 4 miles away. More litter bins needed in Windermere especially by benches where people are eating takeaways as present village benches are dirty. Respond
- The new Victoria Street Roundabout really is a mess. Bowness is littered and smelly from lack of regular cleaning and the reluctance of the visitor to deal with litter correctly. Lack of maintenance on an increasing number of exhaust fans puffing fat fumes out on the streets. I presume more than just me has noticed what the appearance of lovely seats and nice low walls around Bowness and Windermere has lead to more people sitting around eating Fish & Chips dripping a proportion of it and leaving the litter under the seat or in the gutter. Admire your resolve to get things moving and am sorry I will not be there to offer some support. Respond
